June 21-August 23, 2012
Accepting registrations Summer Class.
This class will focus on understanding the figure as an anatomical event through lectures on the musculoskeletal system of the torso. Students will explore graphite rendering techniques of the figure through the long, extended pose. Emphasis will also be placed on proportion, using the 7.5 head proportion system.
Syllabus:
Each of the 10 classes will follow the same format: The class meeting will begin with an hour long lecture on the anatomy of the torso, with focus on the muscular system of the torso, both deep and superficial muscles. Bones will be discussed at the beginning of the term, followed by discussions on the muscles. The following two hours of each class meeting will be spent rendering a long pose in graphite. The instructor will offer one on one critique for each student. The instructor will also develop his own drawing in each class meeting for the purpose of demonstration.
