Evan by Linda Dulaney Finalist ARC 2013 International Compitition

Our classes at BACAA, offer the opportunity for intensive study, working from nature. Students will learn about structure, proportion & how to correctly block in the outside graphic shape, drawomg the contour and modeling the form.

Students will learn techniques and process to see and work from life.

The techniques that she teaches will help students develop their artwork, conveying the natural organic forms and science of light on the form. Students will have the opportunity to work methodically through a process to compare what they see and draw from nature.
Linda’s teaching experience and artistry comes from years of study with some of the greatest realist artists. Her most influential teachers were Tony Ryder, Ted Seth Jacobs and Michael Grimaldi.
During the classes students have the opportunity to further develop their artwork by working from our beautiful cast collection and master copies. Students have the option to work independently to create a portfolio from the model in long pose.

We work from life, live models, drapery, casts, still life.

“Linda,

Thank you for all you do to help so many of us! Best,” Shyrl

“That was a Wonderful Workshop. You made us all feel so welcome.

The  perfect  enviroment , full of creative energy……..

Much love Lucy”

James Gleason, juror, loved your work.  I’m pleased to let you know that your beautiful drawing “Meave” was his first choice for one of the three awards.  He said this about the piece:  “Beautiful line work as well as structure and proportion of the head drawing.”  If he could have given more than one award per artist, he would’ve given “Anna” an Honorable Mention, as well.  Congratulations, Linda!

“I also wanted to share with you that I used the concept of reference points in the lessons that I taught to my beginning art students, most of whom were certain that they had never drawn before and doubted they could ever draw. In one week, everyone was drawing beautifully from observation! I made the connection to looking at constellations… stars. I had them just draw constellations like the “Big Dipper” and others from projections on a screen and we could just focus on seeing relationships and proportions and measuring of relative distances between points and alignments. They got it! then when we gradually moved over to “filling in the details of images”, the kids had the skills to find their way. Thank you!!! Your gift of teaching me has come through to 30 young people!” Liz.

Friday Evening: Painting and Drawing the Figure in the Interior classNew

Fridays April 19, 26 and then May 17, 24, and 31 - No class May 3rd 10th, 2013

Summer Classes Begin June 21-July 26, 2013

Enrollement open

No class on July 5

Hours: 6:30-9:30pm

Vermeer, Hammershoi, Bacon, Bonnard… painters have always been fascinated by the psychological and visual impact of a figure in an interior space. In this weekly class, a live model will pose clothed or nude in an environment implicative of an intimate interior space. Experimenting with gels on lights and props, we will transform the space to inspire unique paintings and interpretations.

Students will have the ongoing opportunity to work from the live model, learning strategies to visually integrate the figure into a surrounding space using the elements of light, value, color, texture, form and edges. Methods in perspective, sight size, and composition will strengthen student’s ability to quickly conceive and execute a holistic image. Students will have two consecutive weeks of the same pose to develop their painting.

Structure: There will be two sessions of the same pose (two consecutive weeks). The first session will be spent drawing; the second will be spent painting. Students can paint or draw for the entire two-week pose if they choose.  This class will give students the opportunity to develop a unique painting working from life. The final week (week five) will be a critique of student work and progress

Cost: $350 per 5 week session
